But beyond that sort of scintilla of grace that I'm going to extend for them getting what I would see as really poor advice and really poor guidance in this moment, I will say that I find it

almost offensive in this moment to sort of center them and their secondhand threats. And again, in the conversation, Don, a lot of this gets lost. You were pointing out that one of the young men was just speaking about an experience of another Black friend, not themselves, and so on and so forth. But keep in mind that you and I are listening to this with a discerning ear.

And what that refers to is when you have a jury, not a grand jury, not a grand jury, when you have an actual jury at a criminal trial, all you need is one holdout. All you need is one juror to say no, no, no, no, no, no. And you avoid a conviction.

And so it's hard to say in this moment, watching something like this, Don, whether that is the calculation, whether they are bidding and auditioning for, if they can't get the court of public opinion, if we can't stop an indictment, if we end up with a criminal prosecution, we need to appeal to just one juror who might be out there, who might be watching this and get their sensibilities to side with us.

We talked about this, I want to say, a little bit around a week ago. We had this conversation. A lot of this is invited by the lack of information that we've received from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

If the Jackson County Sheriff's Office is more transparent and puts out more information and moves swiftly with this, at least with regular updates to the family and the public regarding this investigation, not telling everything, but giving folks more information, I guarantee you that we do not have this space filled up with these sorts of interviews. We don't have this space filled up with this sort of commentary and conjecture from these boys or from their attorneys.

This is a void of information created by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. And the result is that the zone has been flooded with all sorts of information that's caused even more speculation, which actually plays in favor of the defendants or in favor of the suspects, or in this case, the favor of people who might be indicted come grand jury time.
