He was a running back.

You would have loved that.

I went down there, man, but I wasn't feeling it, man.

I knew I wasn't going to be a Golden Domer.

So I knew that right off the bat.

I appreciated the opportunity, but it wasn't going to happen.

I respect that.

Yeah, but interestingly, yeah, I was a running back in high school, and I was really being recruited, you know, as running back from everybody, I mean, including Michigan.

But I had these issues with my knees in high school and, you know, I would, you know, play through the season and all of a sudden, you know, my knees would get banged up.

Knees would swell up sometimes during the season.

You know, there was times when I was, you know, they were putting that needle in my knee and, and,

draining out the fluid and trying to play.

And so when it came time, you know, you know, for me to get ready to, you know, choose schools and whatnot, I was like, man, I'm not going to last playing running back.

And so I remember talking to

I was being recruited by Jim Herman, who he was the linebackers coach, I believe.

And then he went on to be our defensive coordinator.

I think my sophomore or junior year, either way.

I remember being on the phone with him saying, hey, man, I'm playing defense when I come up there.

And he was like, what?

He was like, really?
