And how do you deal with that?
And how do families deal in that situation?
What keeps them together when you lose someone like my mother, who was the North Star?
I don't want to talk in cliches, but she was the glue.
And one of the problems is that you sort of drift out of orbit.
So that's part of it.
And the other part of it simultaneously was a realization that I had become dislocated from my natural environment.
So these things were happening at the same time.
And it is sharing the joy I felt as I went on that journey of rediscovering the nature in my life, in particular, obviously, birds, 12 Birds to Save Your Life, and how it helped me, you know, how it helped me through the difficult times in a way that I never thought it would and I never believed it would have done because I'd never assumed it could.
The thing about getting to know birds...
is that, fine, like I remember, I think it was my wife, she said, well, fine, you can just look at the birds, you don't need to know their names.
And I said, well, that's a bit like, you go to the same coffee shop every day, and you go in, and they're very nice people, and you go and get your coffee, and you say good morning, and you leave, and you go in, and it's a nice experience.
Or you go in and you get to know the person.
You build a relationship with that human being, and it's transformative.
And it's just that added layer.
It's exactly the same with getting to know nature.
You're getting to know the potential best friend that you ever had.
It layers on and layers on.
And then, of course, it's not just the birds because it's the places they inhabit.
It's the missing out bit that I want to convince people that once you've got on top of this a bit and tuned in,
