And it's a factor.
Get as much money into the right tax structures as you can.
But the real wealth creation is by virtue of the asset values going up over time and buying good quality assets and ensuring that they generate revenue.
And I think people can get a little bit too kind of fussed with the tax stuff.
If you've had a goal of dollar cost averaging into a bunch of ETFs over a long period of time,
Keep doing it.
If you end up paying, instead of 23 cents in CGT, you end up paying 25 or 26, that's not going to change your life.
The bit that's going to change your life is making some weird decision to stop as a result of that extra 2% or 3% tax rate.
Yeah, possibly, unless some of the changes to the manner in which distributions from trust to companies is repealed or changed.
I do feel like they've not understood what they're doing with that.
I do feel like there's some unintended consequences.
um, or they want to kill the trust possibly.
So this is a little bit at the ghost of Shorten and Bowen past.
So if you remember back to the 2019 federal budget, there was a view that people couldn't use excess franking credits to get a refund in their tax return.
They lost the election off the back of it because they didn't realise what they were doing is costing little old ladies, the excess franking credit refund from their CBA shares.
Um,
That was never their intent.
Their intent was to stop people having a much lower tax rate over their life by funneling money down to a beneficiary company and then cycling it out later on and getting all that tax back through paying small distributions over time.
What they're trying to do, I think, anyway, and we're trying to read minds here, is maintain the sanctity of the minimum 30% tax rate.
We're okay with that.
