Then we build toward a preseason that has preseason games.
Could Ohio State host an OU, a Kent State, a smaller school in Ohio that then they can kind of benefit everyone in this –
in this realm like those programs are never going to meet the standard that Ohio State continues to strive for year after year could they be building up some of the smaller programs in the state of Ohio by facing them in the preseason now I brought up the SEC because I think they're kind of the only conference that would push back against this and really the number one reason is because oh it's so hot in the summertime what are our players going to do we can't practice outside well
Here's the deal.
You get the benefit of practicing year-round in every other sport the North does not get.
In baseball, you get to practice all year long.
In soccer, you get to practice all year long.
In softball and every other sport.
In football, you guys have indoor facilities too.
If it's too hot, just go inside.
Practice and have your OTA session in there.
Get everybody on the same calendar that maximizes the athletes' abilities to be students, the high schoolers' ability to finish their high school career before they get to college,
and then build up some of the smaller programs in Ohio with preseason games.
I just think that the spring game model, it just creates a very bloated, full calendar for these players, which we saw kind of at its peak last year with Ohio State.
They delayed the start of their spring game because the season went until January 20th.
Then they had a national championship celebration and they had to go through all of that winter workouts before they really got to start their spring.
Could it be beneficial for these calendars to kind of space out a little bit and give teams the opportunity to really build out their roster without all the congestion that happens around December and January?
No, I've been stewing over it for a long time.
