No, and through you talking, I don't know if you realized it, but you hit on all the core tenets of what a cult even is.
Because everything that you're describing, the charismatic authority, the person that can create these GoFundMes or that start these charity scam organizations online,
are their own cult leader.
The emotional manipulation, the storytelling that they're able to tell you to say, this is the bad thing that's happening and we need your money ASAP.
We need your money now.
The information control, you mentioned not having all the jargon, but that is by design.
These people put out all this information that the normal person wouldn't necessarily have all that information, but that is to, again, like,
encourage you like, oh my God, you need to send money to help this specific cause.
And then also like the in-group morality.
If you do not send this money, you are a bad person.
It's sad and it sucks because people who have empathy, like you're saying, can definitely start to form a distrust if they fall victim to these sorts of things.
I liken it to like trying to cancel a Purple People Leaders, aka Planet Fitness membership.
When I tell you, you have to, sorry, threaten their life for them to get you out of Purple People Leaders, just like reoccurring donations.
It's so hard for you to stop subscribing.
