And you might look at businesses that appear to be doing well,
and think, well, they must know something that I don't.
The problem with that is that you're making decisions based on a really tiny piece of the puzzle.
If you think about it for a second, you can see that another business has introduced a membership.
but you don't know how many people actually signed up.
You don't know how many people cancelled after the first month.
You can't see whether it's actually profitable.
You have no idea how much work goes into managing it every day, every week.
And you can't really see whether they secretly wished they'd never even launched it in the first place.
You can't
see if they're actually in regret you only see that it exists and for some reason because it exists you assume it must be working and that is a very dangerous assumption
The same thing happens with pricing.
You know, someone posts they've increased their prices by 20% and everyone jumps into the comments saying how amazing it is.
And a week later, other businesses will start increasing theirs as well.
And do not get me wrong, I'm all for charging what you're worth.
I think the pet industry has undercharged for years and continues to do so.
But raising your prices because someone else did is not a strategy.
The real question would be, you know, why did they put their prices up?
Were they booked out six weeks in advance or even six months?
Were they trying to slow demand?
