Many digital health tools never really answer that question for the clinician from a safety and quality perspective.

They answer a different one, which is really whether the tool is safe and effective in principle.

And from where I sit, I don't think those two things are the same.

And I think that's where this gap exists in terms of the implementation and the adoption piece.

The leader of a health service organization sits down to assess whether a patient-facing app or whatever the technology happens to be is right for their population or their cohort.

I think the question that really matters most is probably not the ones that you're going to find in the commentary on the website of the product.

I think ultimately the question the clinician asks is somewhat instinctive because that's what we're trained to do.

We like to think about risk.

And we probably also want to think about potential harms.

And I think the first thing we're probably most likely to interrogate is something along the lines of is the product safe now, not just when it was approved.

And that point-in-time checkbox activity that exists with some soft regulatory models might not necessarily be fit for purpose as we start to get so many new different types of products to market.

You know, for example, the app might have had

11 different updates since it was first assessed or assured.

So who's checking that it still does what the original study said it did?

And then I think that there's also a strong case here for, you know, quite good longitudinal monitoring, particularly when we look at tools that might have an AI enabled component.

I might go to the point that Bettina made about um Germany, because at the end of the day they built one of the most advanced systems in the world for digital therapeutics, prescribing and reimbursement.

And, you know, as Pettina mentioned, it sort of functions around apps on prescription.
