I remember it was the same with Tesla.

For the first 10 years, it had a lot of share price volatility.

And then the business model got traction and, you know, it started to get good volatility.

you know, commercial success.

And it may take a while for SpaceX as well.

But yeah, I wouldn't be going on the other side of the trade and shorting it.

I'm not sure whether it will be successful initially, but it's too dangerous to be negative on it.

Well, it's a good question.

And obviously it takes time for any company when it lists to find its feet and work out what the market values it at.

When a company lists the book runners and the people selling the shares determine the price as well as those initial buyers.

But some of those initial buyers are in there for a quick buck to try and flip it.

So it does take time for all of that to kind of process through the market.

It's been one of the big challenges for the indices this time because being such a large stock, a lot of the big index providers like MSCI and S&P have had to decide whether it should be included immediately or whether the index itself should wait to work out where it should be positioned.

So this causes an interesting challenge for index investors because they have to now decide, should I be in an index that includes SpaceX immediately or maybe one that's only going to include it in a year's time?

Yeah, that's right.

I think depending on the index, they all relax their rules.

So some of them were about the index inclusion time period.

And like you say, the NASDAQ shortened it.

Some was around free float.

So typically indices will only allow companies to be part of that index if a decent proportion of the overall shares on issue are tradable.
