Now in the case of SpaceX, you know, based on the latest figures, I've seen only about 4.3% of the company will be tradable.
That's a very low free float.
And so traditionally indices wouldn't allow it to be listed, but they've relaxed those rules as well.
I think that's right.
I mean, they're backing his vision and yeah, he's such an interesting figure, but he's got such a strong following of people that just believe in him and believe in his ability to find the future.
You know, it might not be his initial idea.
It might be something that comes later.
So you're right.
And I don't think it's unusual for founders or, you know, the families involved in businesses to have kind of different share ownership or preference shares or controlling interests.
You know, I think Facebook was in a similar situation.
You know, even your employer has different share structures where different people have levels of control, different to ordinary shareholders.
So that's not unusual, I'd say.
And certainly in the case of Elon, I think people would be, a lot of the investors would be happy for him to have kind of that overarching control.
Well, yeah, I think definitely in this example, because it is everyone backing his vision, I mean, maybe Steve Jobs was similar, but, you know, he managed to hand over the company in a, you know, in a way that worked out.
But yeah, I think that's a, it's a big challenge for the businesses.
And as a shareholder, you have to price that in the price you're prepared to pay, you know, even though the probability of Elon carking, it would be very low, then, you know, the impact on the share price would be obviously quite negative.
So people have got to factor that in.
Yeah, it's wild.
I mean, that is the challenge at the moment and the market's been selling off.
I don't know what proportion of it's due to the Middle East and how much of it's due to other factors, but I think some level of it is funding these upcoming floats because there were some good calculations that the Financial Times did a day ago suggesting that there's about $14 billion worth of index and active manager buying that has to happen over the first few weeks.
