So it's a real tricky thing if you're an active trader or someone betting on picking the top is that you can be eventually right, but you can be wrong and wear a lot of pain for quite a long time.
Yeah, that's right.
Or even just diversification across other asset classes.
And that's what we're always recommending to clients is, I mean, we see the pressure always and clients are always interested in assets and sectors that are done better.
So at the moment, we're getting a lot of clients asking, like, as you'd expect, how can I get exposure to SpaceX?
But four months ago, it was how can I get exposure to gold?
And before that...
you know, cannabis or whatever was hot at the time.
So we always have to temper that excitement and say, look, there's always temptation to chase the latest and greatest thing, but, you know, better than that, just own everything.
And you'll always have a bit of those exciting things.
And you'll also have some things that aren't doing as well, but it gives you a more smooth ride.
Otherwise it's a bit of a rollercoaster.
Look, if you go through history, there's always going to be both sort of active funds and now ETFs that launch in areas that are hot because they know that there's a lot of retail money kind of chasing these trends.
And it's a good way of attracting assets.
I remember back in 99, 2000, it was all the big fund managers in Australia, like ANZ and BT and AMP launching technology funds.
You know, there was the BT, a technology fund.
There was an AMP global tech fund.
Everyone wanted to launch a tech fund back then.
And most of them then fell by 90% over the next few years.
So I think it's always a concern for me when you see a lot of funds launching in one space to capitalize on retail interest.
