Like, I want to play the best team in the country, right?

Because that year they were.

So UCLA was a big deal, staying home, and they were very good.

BYU.

I was always a fan of Duke.

Obviously, they were always on TV.

ACC on ESPN or ESPN2.

They had players that were similar to me that I grew up watching, starting with Danny Ferry and then Christian Laettner.

And then a local Southern California kid who I watched in high school, Cherokee Parks, right?

And so I was always a fan of like kind of following these guys' career.

And so never in my wildest dreams did I ever think they would like start recruiting me, but that was after the Nike camp, they started recruiting me.

So then Duke became like a reality in terms of like, hey, this might be an option, right?

So those kind of, and then Kansas with Roy Williams.

So those were kind of my five schools.

And then when I cut things down to like going official visits, I loved Roy Williams.

And the one thing that always made a ton of sense to me that I actually use to this day is he's like, hey, the best thing you can tell me is yes.

The second best thing you can tell me is no.

So I don't know if for whatever reason that really resonated with me and made it easier to kind of call him and be like, Coach, I just don't want to waste your time.

I love everything about you.

I just don't see myself going to Lawrence simply because I'm either going to stay home, go play at BYU, or I'm going to go to kind of my dream school, which was Duke.
