I mean, what is she implying for World Cup refereeing there, obviously.

But there's no VAR on that sort of a call.

So it's just...

Yeah, I was surprised and frankly a little disappointed that that just played out that way.

It ended up not costing me over the match, yeah.

You know, I was thinking that she would give it a shot and see how it went and then make that decision.

And from everything I'm hearing, she wants to keep playing, Tony.

I think there's more to come.

Obviously, the body broke down as it was already breaking down with some frequency at the end of her last run at this in her very early 40s.

So I don't know.

To me, it seems like I would debate the call, but I think she really wants to be able to play some more, and I think she will try to play the U.S.

Open if her body will cooperate.

I'm not technically very literate if my phone keeps going out anyway.

Well, you know, I covered Serena in my time at the New York Times pretty much all the way through.

So I saw hundreds of matches with Serena.

I watched her go through all these ups and downs through her career.

And, you know, can be unpredictable.

So I suppose it was appropriate when she'd never used the R word when she left in 22, that there would be, the door would be ajar.

But I was still very surprised that she decided to come back, especially in singles, without having played any matches in singles for almost four years.

And she wasn't exactly thriving in singles before she left.
