Things have been a little bit different recently.
We know that they've come close.
They got to the Euros final in 2020 or 21 when it was delayed for COVID.
They got to World Cup quarterfinal in 22.
They got to the final again for the Euros in 24.
So this team has been slowly building and they have undoubted world superstars in Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.
And they've obviously clearly got incredibly talented players behind that.
Declan Rice, Bukeo Saka, Jordan Pickford's an excellent goalkeeper.
But this time, with Thomas Tuchel in charge, it does feel a little bit different.
They've gone away, the FA, from their safe pair of hands.
And Gareth Southgate did an excellent job with England, not just on the pitch, but off the field.
He completely changed and revolutionised the culture around England.
And now we're beginning to see the fruit of his labour.
But Thomas Tuchel was pretty much brought in to win the World Cup.
