under TPS, with 1,383 more in the country with pending applications.

Around 600 of the protectees live in Minnesota.

Allegations of federal funding fraud involving members of the Somali community there go back to 2021.

Dozens of people have been charged or convicted.

Over the weekend in Mississippi, a synagogue set on fire.

Jackson Mayor John Horne calls it an act of terror and says the city stands with the Beth Israel congregation.

Its president, Zach Schemper, says in a statement, We are thankful to the fire department, law enforcement, and to everyone checking in on our community.

No one's reported to have been injured in the fire early Saturday.

Parts of the building are destroyed, and there's one suspect in custody.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center Jewish Human Rights Organization calls the fire an assault on the heart of Jewish life in the South.
