Okay, so an extra thousand points like that's just it doesn't move the needle at all.
Also, if you factor, if I'm gonna open up one card, that card could probably have at least a hundred thousand point welcome bonus.
Right.
So, like if I could get a welcome.
Offer worth 100,000 points, or I could open a card that's going to give me an extra point per dollar on a thousand dollars, it's gonna take me somewhere on the order of a hundred years for that to break even.
So, like those kinds of things don't move the needle.
Now, if you run a business and you spend a ton of money on gas, and let's say you spend four million dollars a year buying gas for a fleet of vehicles, well then yeah, you should get a card that's gonna give you a lot more points per dollar on gas.
That makes sense.
But if you're
Spending $300 a month on an expense and you could get one more point per dollar, it's probably not worth it relative to what you could get from a welcome offer on a card.
I built this whole thing that analyzes like the average US consumer spending, according to the Bureau of Labor statistics, for people in the like the top quartile of spend, which I think was somewhere around like ninety thousand dollars a year or eighty thousand dollars a year, including housing payments, which we'll shelve that for a second.
You know, if you go with one card, the answer in terms of like points is two X.
Like there's no card that for the average spending pattern will do better than two.
If you had a second card, and I think
At the time that I did it, the best second card was the Amex Gold because it was 4x on nine anniversaries.
Okay, yeah.
But it was very dependent on your spending.
It goes from an average of two to 2.6.
Okay.
Or 2.65 or something.
