i all you can hope I suppose as a Prime Minister is that you articulate what you're seeking to achieve clearly and try and take people with you in the hope that there's an element of matched

sympathy for the dilemmas that you face, even if perfectly understandably there is real anger from plenty, particularly the families of victims who discover that you know, that d a a a perpetrator is going to be is going to be released earlier than you would like. matched

And on that point about foreign national offenders, I was talking to someone in the in the weeds of all of this who was saying that the the inclination usually in terms of that sense of justice being delivered is that the more serious the offence, the greater the, if you like, institutional and political inclination is to leave the offender in jail in the UK. matched

In other words, because that is seen to be the transparent delivery of justice versus them being sent, as you say, to country X or Country Y, where they are where who knows what what happens to them and their capacity to travel or the extent to which they're detained and all of that kind of stuff. matched

But um those most serious offenders, in most instances, are most likely to be on the longest sentences and therefore matched

are taking a space, if you like, for longer than the person who isn't. matched

So and therefore not freeing up a space that allows you to not have to take as many of these gnarly decisions. matched

Yeah, and actually as a as a useful counter, 'cause we we should always be willing, and it's a newscast tradition, isn't it, to sort of show our workings and think out loud. matched
