So I think that this brings some order to a situation that is not working for hundreds of thousands of people.
The last point here is I don't want to treat medicinal cannabis users as if they're criminals when they're not.
I mean, they've gone through a lawful system consulting their doctor for pain relief in the circumstances that best suits
them.
No, I mean, I don't worry about that because if you have a presence of cannabis in your system and you don't go through the education campaign and you are not on a lawful prescription, i.e.
you don't have a reason for it, then the current regime applies to you.
You'll be hit with the penalties.

suspension of your driving license and whatever remedy the court comes up with.
But I mean, the circumstances have changed and we have to change with it.
And I was faced with the dilemma of either, do we strengthen the law to get rid of the judicial discretion and really clamp down on medical cannabis users, or do we have a more common sense pathway through?
And I think that this is a recognition of the fact that hundreds of thousands of people, including pillars of our civic life,
returned servicemen and women, police officers, judges, doctors have all lobbied the New South Wales government for a change.
Well, he's speaking about the current regime, which he's got every right to do.
He's extrapolating his experience on a world that doesn't exist yet.

What I would say is that the government with this plan is not allowing full-scale, willy-nilly cannabis users to be on the roads whenever they want.
Like, for example, in some jurisdictions around the world, in California and Canada, where there's an impairment test.
It's a roadside sobriety test or field test where they check whether you've got red eyes.
