I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't, hey, here's a character.
I'm just going to bring in a character and then a neat connection.
No, he made him a massive part of the story, almost as if he had planned it, which I know he didn't, but he couldn't have.

And I also, I'll say that in the Callahan chapters, and this goes, of course, with the caveat that these are King's books written during a certain time, but I think there's an argument to be made that with some exceptions, and we'll probably talk about those later, this is his most woke book.
I think that the Father Callahan stuff is...
You get all sorts of representation.
You get them fighting, fighting racists and bigots.
And I it's not always it's not always put in very politically correct language, obviously.
But I really enjoyed it.
I saw I truly saw Father Callahan as a type of hero in this thing.
Until the end where he says, I'm going to let us all die if she gets an abortion.
So fuck him for that.
Fuck him for that.
Totally.
And look, and for all of his sins, Father Callahan pays with the ultimate generosity.
