I think if you're calling someone, you need to get all the important information across fairly quickly because you're taking some of their time and they're probably not going to give much up. matched

So make sure that you've got the right person um and you might need to find a different person if you haven't. matched

Introduce yourself, say, I'm I'm Phil and I work at BBC Learning English. matched

Check whether they've got time is now a good moment to talk. matched

And then explain the reason why you're calling in a short sentence. matched

So you might say something like I'm calling to see if you'd be interested in working with us on an upcoming project. matched

Now, what you can get from that first contact might depend a lot on the culture of the company that that you're calling, um how your companies work together. matched

So you might need to think about what are you realistically aiming to get in that first call. matched

Often you're trying to convince them to do something or to buy something. matched

Um so you might want to try and find out what they think about something. matched
