Now, we are convinced ourselves that the evidence is there.

That's why we have reported in the way that we have.

And as I say, our reports are based upon very strong evidence that we ourselves have collected and assessed.

Yeah, I referred at the press conference to a number of situations that really had a lasting impression on me.

It was unusual for me to do that.

You know, I'm a lawyer and I'm an investigator, and normally at press conferences I talk about the evidence as a whole.

and what the applicable law is.

But on this occasion, I indicated that I felt the need to speak quite personally about particular circumstances that had affected me.

The first of those was the death of five Israeli teenagers in the Hamas attacks on 7 October 2023.

These were kids, a girl and four boys, ages 16, 17, who went to the beach on that particular Saturday morning.

And presumably they went to the beach to swim.

It was early October.

Israel's much warmer than Ireland.

And while they were at the beach, a Hamas boat arrived with gunmen on it, started shooting up the beach.

These kids...

escaped or went into a toilet block for shelter.

There was an adult fisherman who went in as well as one Israeli soldier.

They were attacked by the Hamas gunmen and the soldier, the fisherman and the five children were all killed.
