I wanted to shadow what you mentioned though, because as a parent, we, Jesse and I, we have our three-year-old who has some pretty big feelings and emotions, especially lately.
And I think about like,
Punishments and rewards is does that work for this child or are there alternative ways that could benefit him more in the long run, such as working towards regulating his emotions asking for help when he needs it and all sorts of things right.
And every once in a while, just in my nature, I will sometimes go the punishment route and notice that over time, that's just not working, right?
And so as a parent, I reflect back and go, yeah, this doesn't seem to be working or sometimes things might even be seeming to get worse.
So I think working with a child in a certain type of approach for a therapeutic setting
does it seem like this is leading to more behaviors elsewhere, more challenges?
Does it seem to be that the child's becoming even more dysregulated?
Like all of those things I think are in our own instincts, like our own survival instincts as parents, right?
We could feel it.
We're like, okay, this is working or this isn't working.
