And then you sort of become addicted to that.
You become...
interested in how you deal with things, situations, conflicts, problems, completely on your own steam.
It's like growing your own vegetables.
It's very satisfying to do something with no help.
And it's so funny because
And they would say it to you as well, oh, you must be so proud of yourself.
And I've always gone, no.
I never go, that's another day without alcohol, well done.
But just talking to you now, I realize that I am proud of myself.
I very rarely feel that feeling.
But the reason I'm proud of myself is not because I'm not drinking.
It's because I've solved problems.
problems with kindness and empathy and decisions that honour myself and that makes me proud because that takes a lot of time, a lot of walking, a lot.
You know, Sarah, I never talk about it, so I don't know.
I guess when kids have two parents whose favourite thing is to be their parent, it's easy.
And I know that there will be so many people going, shh.
Shut up.
You know, I've had so many nightmarish stories and I just feel so sad for everybody involved in those acrimonious situations.
I mean, my parents didn't have a fabulous divorce.
