And then in the style and fashion that I did it, I think is another thing.
I did it with, you know, kind of like what I'm known for is like just being, you know,
a flair having you know the attitude and and really just enjoying the moment so many skaters can't even enjoy their moment because they're like feeling like they're gonna be treated or or look like they're like celebrating themselves you know what i mean people look down on that you know i mean where me i was like
bringing all my friends we're celebrating I just killed it you know what I'm coming here to kill it what's up guys I'm trying to help my competitors compete at their best you know what I mean like I'm like trying to help them with their runs I'm like hey you should do this trick like that and I'm trying to give everyone pointers and yet we're in heated competition and for me that was kind of like the thing that I was you know so proud of at that moment that I accomplished that with
the Bruce Lee style, no shirt, spandex shorts, doing things that no one would do, you know what I mean?
Having my own style, you know what I mean?
Full on stuff flying off me with the bracelets, the double swatches, Chuck Taylors, just...
My style, I did it my way, and I think that that's kind of like where now, I think that that's what I like to remember as something that I did, besides my own company, started my own company at 17 with my father, Pops, and, you know, inventing the Christ Air.
There's other tricks that I invented, too, the Rocket Air, the Body Jar.
You know, the crossbone backside air.
You know, that was kind of like really the first trick that I really invented was the crossbone backside air that was, you know, revolutionary for the day because everybody just did backside airs.
You know, the method was kind of one, but the actual tweaking of your board, like a lean air tweak or a lean method was,
came like right after all that and it started with the tweak backside air because then we realized you can actually go up there and do something you know then the one foot the the judo you know the anti-judo and i got amazing photos by grant britain you know i mean who covered so many of my iconic tricks the rocket air the christ there who's naming these
i think it was the shut up and skate contest in uh texas houston the kahuna ramp and we're at the hotel we're like trying to invent tricks this is the rocket air and i'm like two feet on the tail two feet on the you know hands on the nose and i'm gonna try and blast like this and i think it was like either blender or like lucero lance one of those guys we're all hanging out and he
oh yeah rocket air and i go i'm trying it tomorrow sick and tomorrow came and i just went up backside air and i just went straight into the position boom and it was just like that that high at the kahuna ramp and within like probably like three or four tries i was landing it in
That's how the rocket air came about.
It was so spontaneous.
It didn't take long.
It was just like, and, you know, it's one of those things that pushes the ceiling.
And then having your own signature moves.
