So to back to your point about incentives, there is no incentive being provided to youth clubs or smaller clubs.
Let's take it.
Let's take an amateur youth club and put that in the category of, you know, developmental feeder yet smaller.
There is no incentive currently for that club to have a player who moves on to a professional let's call it top tier Academy.
That is free.
There is no give back.
Okay.
Right.
Yeah.
There's a couple of arguments for that that have been made over time.
One is that antitrust law would find this to be an unreasonable restraint of trade.
And the reasons for that is that imposing costs on signing new players would restrict players' ability to move freely between clubs.
It would reduce the number of clubs that wanted to sign players because of extra cost.
And it ultimately would reduce opportunities and suppress compensation for players.
So that's the basic antitrust argument.
And it's basically that if you have to pay in addition to the salary, you have to pay an additional payment.
To a club, that's increasing cost.
When there's a higher cost, there's less of those types of signings that reduces opportunity, that reduces mobility for the worker as the player.
Now, sometimes you can get around this type of stuff with collective bargaining, which is another legal rabbit hole that I don't really think we want to go down.
