did believe that this situation where the jury was kind of in the same space as the prosecutors and police was not ideal.

I think everyone agrees that that is not an optimal position.

But the key question is

were the jury improperly influenced or communicated with?

And and that's what these judges have to grapple with.

Well, I think Aaron Patterson wanting the trial in Morwell probably would have been on the reasonable expectation that if jurors were sequestered, that they wouldn't be put in the same building as the prosecution.

and the police.

And just knowing what we do about how this little local community works and how things played out, it certainly wasn't ideal.

Um but for a bit of broader context, the jury was kept um in a town called Taralgan, which is next door to Morwell, where the trial was being held.

Um and there's not a huge amount of accommodation in this local area.

Now questions might be asked about why the jury was put so close to the trial location.

My personal question is why wasn't this jury kept an hour away so that there could be no risk of contamination?
