Yeah, Michael Hilly Ray's idea of of the twenty percent, I think, is probably one of the kind of first, you know, different ideas in terms of changing the tax system here than since we've had uh Leo Radger out in twenty twenty two when he floated the idea of having the the new thirty percent tax band.
And at the time it caused absolute uh I I think mayhem within government because uh Fina Fall were kind of giving it a lukewarm uh
uh reception, then Leo Vradker was kinda saying, Look, it was just an idea.
I'm not rigidly I'm not rigidly uh attached to it.
I'm not rigidly
But it i at the time I remembered there was very much pushback from the Department of Finance going, God, like this is gonna take forever.
We can't possibly bring in
um, you know, such a a radical change.
But you know, it's been four years and we haven't really had any big major ideas of how to bring people um you know to pay uh you know middle income earners to pay um less tax.
I mean other than tweaking around the edges, really.
You know, gather any pace?
Lo I think I was speaking to a good few business owners this week about it and they were saying it was very difficult
To get some employees to do over time because you know, if it's going to increase their take-home pay and push them into the higher tax bracket, a lot of people will just say, Do you know what?
I'll just do my my base cigars.
Thanks very much.
So look, I think any sort of ideas uh shouldn't just be dismissed outright.
But I think the truth of the matter, as uh as Ellen pointed to, is last year, I think, from a political level, a lot of the government party
got it in the absolute neck from their constituents.
Um, you know, the first budget after getting it into power.
And, you know, at the end of the day, with inflation factored in, people are actually coming out with less.
