Yeah, I think this spells a big headache for the government as they come back after the summer recess and we head towards budget.
If we start to see food costs getting unreasonably priced, I think a lot of people will say that they are already feeling the pinch in terms of their weekly shop.
But we've seen food prices, I think, up about twenty five percent in the last five years.
Like that's absolutely massive for families.
Um and and you have to factor in, I suppose, as you mentioned, the drought.
Which is increasing problems and bringing higher input costs for farmers.
There's going to be obviously be calls from farmers, I think, for additional supports in terms of their crops.
And then if you factor in as well, the talk, which is kind of rumbling on a bit now about the fuel prices and the government that are phasing out those excise supports when we get back in September, if we start to see fuel prices up and around the two euro mark, that's
It's definitely going to feed into the supermarket prices in terms of distribution.
So it it it's all kind of part of the same um problem, I think, for the government in terms of the cost of living here.
Um so I think there'll be huge pressure for for some sort of action on this.
Yeah, a hundred percent.
And I think we've seen some moves by government in terms of I think there's been supports for, you know, boosting a flour industry, I think, in the country, which obviously has pointed out, you know, Ukraine were leading on that and we obviously felt the impacts of it.
But I think people might be um at home, you know, we have the same sort of discussion and debates a lot of the time and sometimes I think people feel that, you know, drastic uh um action or you know out
Of the box thinking is somewhat lacking.
You know, like when we talk about the CCPC, we've heard plenty of times about talking about uh giving that agency more teeth.
And yes, they did do an investigation into uh supermarkets and and they did find that the profit margins were similar in Ireland than in the UK and and Europe.
