I'm a journalist who happens to cover sports or sports issues or sports and culture or whatever we call it, uh sports controversies, um, those kinds of things.
So, um, but journalists first, always.
And um so so anyway, so now that I'm going into the uh the Vin Minnesota Vikings are playing the Dolphins preseason game and the Miami Herald.
Uh, my sports editor Paul Anger, who was great.
pulls me into his off or asks me to come in his office and says, Hey, wow, I want you to go, write a feature on the Vikings and go in their locker room.
And the Vikings didn't never had a woman in the locker room before.
It's just uh August of eighty.
I'd never been in a man's locker room before.
But um, you know, again, there's still people out there, Kevin, as you know.
College football coaches to this minute who don't think there should be equal access in the workplace and the locker room is a workplace, folks.
Equal access in the workplace.
You're gonna say to men go in and a woman you can't.
In the eighties, absolutely that was happening a ton for till about eighty five with the NFL.
Um, in college football.
Uh understandably, they at that time they were not professional athletes and they're eighteen to twenty-two.
Understood.
So, uh yeah, the Miami Herald talked to the PR people of the Vikings.
Vikings said, Yes, we get it, all good.
And so I interviewed Bud Grant, the great Bud Grant, interviewed him.
I wore a skirt.
