As a profession, we've said, well, our importance to the healthcare realm, eyes aren't enough.
Like, I got to help people with their diabetes.
I got to help people with their cardiovascular problems.
Like, okay, that's fine.
I can do all that too.
But nobody's going to care about a patient's eyes as much as I do.
And so why do I have to identify with the value of me helping a patient's systemic disease?
There are really good people for that.
Now, I'm not saying that I don't, but I think we just have this identity crisis.
When you ask, like, well, who's better to talk about their eye health?
in the long term.
Well, is eye health enough?
And honestly, I tell you, we reel with that.
I'm not sure if you've observed that, but we've talked about that a number of times.
I'm not sure if that answers your question, but I think it's absolutely true.
I think it's kind of this, yeah, I think it's, the idea is, you know, sort of,
us being the best managers of ocular conditions is enough, but it's not all we do.
As opposed to flipping it around and saying like, our only value is because we can tell a primary care doctor that there's diabetic retinopathy going inside of a patient's eyes.
Like, okay, that's like...
It is something we do, but it's not our primary value.
