I tell you that not to validate me, but to say I've seen a lot of shit and I've seen the Democratic Party
start taking advantage of Latinos in a way that we take them for granted a little bit too much, much like we've done the African-American vote in some instances.
And over time, when you have a Donald Trump come in, that's how you started seeing slippage.
And I was throwing up warning signs saying, hey, y'all, we got to get back to talking about populist economic issues.
And then Donald Trump's talking to them about things Democrats used to talk about, like was a rigged system.
The biggest difference to answer that big, long Chuck Rocha wind up is to say the electorate is much different now.
15 years ago, it was a majority immigrant.
Now it's majority second and third generation.
15 years ago, it was dominant Spanish.
Now it's dominant English.
And the biggest single thing that changed where you saw a 20 point swing was two big things.
They were promised cheaper prices and their everyday life has continued to go up with every price, mainly around the Trump tariffs.
And the second piece is this horrible anxiety around their safety in their neighborhoods.
Donald Trump told Latinos,
He was going to deport criminals and bad people and clean up their neighborhoods.
And you know what?
Latinos were okay with that.
We're like, sure, you want to get bad people out of here?
Get the criminals out of here.
I'm with you, Donald Trump.
