And Meta is talking about paying communities to host data centers, which is an interesting idea.

Yeah, it's big business now here in Ireland, isn't it?

Because uh if we look at yesterday, Kingsban put out uh an announcement that's the Kavan uh Building Materials Groups uh saying that it had agreed to purchase for up to 900 million euro of a company called BMC Manufacturing Group.

That's a mead-based uh operation which designs engineers and manufactures low voltage switchgear and critical power management solutions for the data center industry.

industry and obviously it's been uh data centres in Ireland now have uh have become big business.

Well, who knows, maybe some of that meta money will uh find its way towards your local community.

The government recently published Exchequer Returns for the first seven months of the year.

For the first time, the returns gave us an insight into the extra corporation tax that is likely to flow our way from the rate being increased to fifteen percent for large companies.

This should lead to a further increase in our corporate tax receipts for this year and as a helpful backdrop for the government in the run up to October's budget.

Umbook Kennedy of the Irish Times covered the publication of the exchequer returns and he joined me in studio.

I began by asking him to take us through the corporate tax numbers for the first seven months of the year and the extra loot we're now getting from the higher fifteen percent tax rate.

Yeah, okay.

Now we we kinda fret about these corporation tax receipts a little bit, even though they're buoyant, extremely buoyant.

We've never had it so good.
