Matt, do you support the industrial action today?

Now, Matt, what they say, and Maeve mentioned this as well, you know, there are ambulances working today up and down the country, and if somebody is in acute medical need, an ambulance will be dispatched.

That's the line, certainly, from those on the picket.

Nobody's lives are at risk here.

But the other side of it is... It does have to have some impact, doesn't it, on patients?

Like by its very definition, like 46% of the service is available today and up and running.

I mean, we don't have double the amount of capacity we need in the ambulance service.

So it's going to have some impact.

And there are people absolutely working hard to make sure that's the case today.

But I guess the point is that there's people maybe not in...

acute critical need they're not necessarily their life doesn't depend on it kind of here and now as we speak but who would in the ordinary course of events rely on an ambulance and they might not get it as in the reason this matters is because it impacts patients if it didn't we wouldn't be talking about it Yes it does but then we have another side of it too which I can say and which I have also witnessed that there is members of the public that will bring the paramedics for an earache

Matt, I guess on some of the point of protest is to be disruptive.

It has to disrupt to have effect.

What then, Mark, do you say to those warnings we've had today from, you know, the Irish Association for Emergency Medicine and the Patients Association, that there will be a risk to patients because of the industrial action?

Short term pay and long term gain is not going to be much solace to somebody waiting on an ambulance and it not arriving today.
