During the search of that car, Gardaí discovered a bomb containing almost 400 grams of Semtex fitted with a detonator and a timer.

And the Gardaí are remaining tight-lipped about who they believe the intended target was, which sort of leads me to believe that perhaps they do have an idea who that person might have been.

pretty much be able to tell when and where it was manufactured and therefore that may give the Gardaí a clue as to how it got into the hands of the new IRA.
Just to return to the new IRA in the Republic and in Dublin particularly, who would they, what sort of people would they be targeting for recruitment?
In the North, there is a plethora of, let's just say, dissident Republican organisations.
And we use that term as a catch-all term.
It can mean many things.
And the vast majority of the people involved in those organisations have no connection to violence, nor are they advocating violence.
But they're not members of Sinn Féin and they don't support the Sinn Féin political strategy.
And I suppose...
There are so many of the groups that it is difficult for any one of them to come out on top.
