Everybody was outside.

The hotel was deserted.

You know, you could just steal everything in the kitchen if you wanted to.

I think there was just no sign of anybody.

It was great.

Brilliant.

It's just... No, I think that you're in the mood for a book the way you're in the mood for something to eat.

And it was actually Declan Kybert who told me some version of that many years ago, maybe 20 years ago.

He said, you need lots and lots of books because you always need something within arm's reach that suits the way you are and what you need.

And every time I'd go into a bookshop and come out with 12 books, I'd say, this is all Declan Kybert's fault.

And it's perfectly reasonable to be doing this.

No, I didn't.

No, I don't have a great deal of social knowledge about contemporary.

I don't listen to the radio, watch television.

So you can imagine what my life is like.

Yeah, I think drama is really boring.

And I'm, you know, it's become a fad and a fashion in filmmaking as well.

And I don't know, but I'm sure that there are people in the audience or maybe everyone in the audience who has gone through Netflix looking for something that isn't about people with guns and car chases and helicopters.

It's actually about human loss and that something of value is being lost.

So that's what I'm after.
