How did your family end up in Perth?
When you were growing up, did you tell people, yeah, we're from Afghanistan?
What do you think helped you make that change to that full-chested pride?

The book is about two gay Afghan men.
One is American, the other lives in Iran, but they both find themselves in Istanbul around 2015.
One man's trying to escape from his family.
The other man has kind of been torn away from his family.
Can we start with the character of Delbar?
Who is he?
Delbar, we see a scene of him in America before he goes to Istanbul.
He's working in this Muslim drag club and this scene, it really made me hoot with laughter.
You've got to tell us first what his drag name is because it's so good.
The scene in that drag bar was so joyful.
It was such an amazing way to start the book.
But how much of a shock would it be for Delbar's family to find out that he's not only gay but he's dressing in drag and he's doing that in public?
And the family is going to find out and he is going to flee to family in Istanbul.
Meanwhile, Mansour is an Afghan man in Iran when the book opens.
