And while this is all happening, Gaza is being bombed and this all happens around Ramadan.
And this character, Hannah, she's a journalist and she has this big dilemma when she's asked to report on this story of the arrest of this kid from the Islamic school.
And then as that's happening, this bombing has begun in Gaza.
Her husband, Jamal, has recently moved to Australia from Gaza and, you know, his family's back there.
They don't know if they're safe.
Hannah thinks about being, quote, "'wracked with survivor's guilt and numbed with survivor's relief.'"
I found that such a powerful line.
Is that a collection of feelings that you know, Rhonda?
And for me, Sarah, this is definitely the most powerful aspect of this book discipline.
We are really asked to consider what it must feel like to wake up every morning so far from your ancestral home and just not know if the people that you love are safe while also having to go to work and deal with annoying colleagues and feed the baby and put food on the table.
Sarah, what aspect of this book most spoke to you?
I didn't connect so much with the character of Ashraf, but I'm not sure Randa Abdel-Fattah wanted us...
I do feel that this is a book that very much wears its heart and its politics on its sleeve.
And it is very much a message book.
It has a certain message that it is telling us to take away.
What did you make of that?
Yeah.
