Andrew, it's so great to have you back on the book show.

You first went to this residency in Tuscany as a young man.

Tell me how you found yourself there.

And you eventually ended up running this residency for a while.

Holy moly.

So how did you go from being an attendee to actually running the place with this baronessa?

And I imagine there'd be some really interesting people coming through the doors, right?

It's also really nice to read a book that's not about writers, because I feel so many writers write books about writers, including yourself, right?

Okay, so you have created your new character, this different Baronessa who's living in this kind of ramshackle villa in Tuscany.

Your character is called Baronessa Elisabetta, also known as Coco.

Who is this woman?

Our narrator is, as you say, he's in his 20s.

He's fresh out of college.

He's described as all gangly, double-jointed limbs, waves of filbert hair, and a raised eyebrow expression of both innocence and arrogance.

It did strike me for a moment that he could be the younger brother of Arthur Less.

So you're saying that maybe he's not a brother of Arthur Less.

Maybe he's some sort of version of you, Andrew.

And this young man, he's never named or never named correctly in the book, but he walks into this house where he's got this job as an archivist.

What does he make of this world that he's been thrown into?
