Mm-hmm.
I'm Kyra Koklea Toka Ingawa.
I am relatively new to Otipoti.
I've been here for about five years now and um I am the community development coordinator at the Valley Project.
I've got a background in um a range of sectors, but predominantly sort of humanitarian community and resettlement sector work.
So excited to be working with the community out in North East Valley.
Yeah, I mean I guess holistically holistically, you know, it's all about having uh building healthy communities, connected communities and uh a connected place f uh connected and um healthy place.
So thinking about the protection of our native biodiversity.
And Jenny will talk to you more about our biodiversity programs in a moment.
But um I guess um for me what I really love is seeing the way that people in the community connect with their local community through their involvement with the Valley Project.
Uh and we see that uh kind of impact and those things happen practically on an individual and like Fano level every day, I would say, uh whether people are new.
to the valley or new to Otipoti, uh um or even people who are new to Aotearoa.
We've got uh there are former refugees and migrants and students and elderly people and really um a divi diverse range of people who live in North East Valley and
Um sometimes there are people having a tough time for a range of reasons, whether that's poor health or social isolation, food insecurity or job loss, uh and they might approach us uh f because they need some support with one of those things or they want to connect with their community and through their involvement with us they might grab some Kai, they might
get involved as a volunteer, they might start coming along to community dinners and
um amazing just seeing how people are able to kind of transform their own lives and also then transform or support the li you know, the the community and um I guess the improvement of sort of general well being of others through their involvement with their local community.
That's something I really love to see.
And um
Uh another thing we do, which is a personal favourite, is our winter warmer event which is coming up soon on the sixth of June.
