And now we're like, I feel like, quote unquote, on the other end of it.
But I saw it like all over my Instagram, all over my Facebook, ironically.
And also how fast like certain platforms like YouTube have just grown.
I feel like when I first heard about the social media ban in Australia, in my head at the time, I was kind of like, oh, it wasn't like...
that bad?
Like do we actually need a social media ban?
And I think it was only when I read through this case with a young woman and she talked about dealing with body dysmorphia and having social phobia that it just kind of like hit little points in my head of having these like distinct memories of when I
had social media when I was younger.
Like I think I got my first smartphone when I was around 15, which is when everyone started to get into iPhones.
I started watching YouTube, I think it was 2004, 2005 when I was a young child.
And I would just go, come home from school, go straight into my room and have all my channels set that I wanted to watch.
My parents had no idea.
And it was also the time where schools started implementing like learning how to use laptops and learning how to use computers.
So they probably just thought I was just doing my homework on my laptop.
And I remember like such distinct moments of I was really into Snapchat and Snapchat had this feature Maps where you could see all your friends and where they were.
My daughter still has that with her friends.
And I remember feeling so, so sick every time I checked maps and saw all my friends at one house.
No one's told me anything that they're going to this house.
I look at their Instagram stories constantly.
To the point where my mum one time made me leave my phone in my bedroom to come down to have dinner, five minutes, sit and have dinner, and I physically felt sick.
