What if you've got the the hot head, shouty, you know, say it all out and the silent, non talkative type?

And I suppose and this is something that has been hard won for me and I don't get right all the time, is that when it comes to rows or these kind of conversations or chats, it's not about being right or proving you're right.

It's about fixing whatever it is between the two of you together.

Yeah.

So I'm getting from what you're saying, it's never the dishwasher, it's never the being late, it's never going to the pub after work and not calling.

It's what's underneath it.

I doubt it arrives there that quickly though, because the dishwasher will still be full, there will still be demands on time, people will still run late.

So is there a kind of a two way here that the other person needs to hear it, but the other person needs to understand why they react that way too?

Yeah, that's been a huge learning for me too.

There's oftentimes I come, you know, all to the table with my point.

Then I'm like, oh well that actually makes sense now.

And it kind of takes the sting out of it.

But it takes a while to go from the shouting about the dishwasher to the talking.

And that you want the end goal is that things are good again.

And I do think as well, when you say you've got your eyes open to, you know, how you may have hurt somebody and, you know, you're open to amending your behaviour, it's also really nice, I think, to notice that when that happens, be it for you or from you, and to say thank you.

When you come up the stairs and the wash basket is empty because you said it last week and you feel seen to say it.
