So let me start here with the Voting Rights Act.
This is really important.
We think about Shelby County versus Holder in 2013.
We think about the chipping away at the Voting Rights Act for the past few years and what just happened recently.
But I want to really, really be clear.
When the Voting Rights Act passed in 1965, the ink wasn't even dry yet.
And conservatives were trying to destroy the Voting Rights Act.
Months after it passes, South Carolina sues and says the Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional.
This is in 1965.
Richard Nixon tried to weaken the Voting Rights Act.
This has been a long game.
And this is what I've been talking about myself, Don Lemon, Joanne Reed, Monique Nola, Karen Hunter, Recy Colbert, Roland Martin, screaming from the rooftops.
This has been a long game.
They've been trying to do this for decades.
Folks think it thinks it passed in 1965.
Everybody was just happy and we just went about.
No, they've been trying to do this for years.
And it's heartbreaking to see Louisiana, Tennessee.
And I want to also say, Monique, some folks are saying, oh, you know, it's going to take away representation in the South as far as black folks in office.
That's true.
