We've been asking how exactly is the pass rush going to get better if you don't go out and add more talent and you don't know for sure who's going to be available based on those injuries to guys like Dayo Odingbo and Shamar Turner.

And I found it fascinating that we got to this point.

I was like, okay, they still need to add a pass rusher, like a veteran on a one-year deal, Yannick Ngagwe style, and hopefully somebody better.

Cam Jordan style.

But at the same time, Layla...

When you actually hear from Dennis Allen explaining how he believes they will get better, it's somewhat, to me, nonsensical because you're putting so much stock in the fact that you're going to quote unquote maybe coach them up.

Because you believe that maybe it was more of a coaching issue than it was a talent issue.

Like I, with my own two eyes, didn't see what played out before Dayo Odengbo got hurt.

And Shamar Turner, it's a little different because he's a rookie.

But you expected a certain level of production from Dayo Odengbo.

That's why you paid him the money.

The money that you paid him tells me how much you expected him to have an impact on the defense.

It didn't happen.
