Aside from need, use, and love, there's one other bucket, and that is sentimental.
And sentimental, you might say, well, I love the things that are sentimental, but that's not always true.
Sometimes it's just, it's a special item that you just feel like you can't get rid of.
Now, there are two rules within sentimental, okay?
You either need to use it
or store it appropriately.
When people tell us that this whatever sweater from their grandma is really important or whatever it is that's sentimental and it's just shoved on a back shelf, I question how special it actually is to them because you are not honoring the item.
If it actually is special and sentimental, you need to either be like, I'm going to put this in a keepsake box at the top of the closet.
Mm-hmm.
or I'm going to have it framed.
You have to honor whatever it is.
But if it's something that you're like, I just can't get rid of it.
It's like, then you need to honor it and like display it or honor it and store it.
Well, the thing is, we don't believe in that.
We just don't.
If it should, that to me does not equal a desire, a want, a need.
It's like putting this like imaginary, well, I should.
Shoulds are not powerful.
I would always question, well, why?
