This Supreme Court did exactly what it wanted to do, totally eliminate the Voting Rights Act.
They started in 2013 when they did away with subsection five, Shelby v. Holder.
And then they just gutted subsection two a couple of weeks ago.
But we can't stop fighting.
You know, you know, I was in Shreveport at a town hall meeting and one of my constituents, she stood up and she said, well, I'm just tired.
You know, my vote doesn't count.
I'm just tired.
I'm you know, and I had to encourage her, her, you know, what what are you doing if you don't vote?
You are basically letting them have their way.
And it's a tough battle, but we're built for it.
And we need to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act as soon as possible, as soon as this new Congress convenes.
We need to put teeth in the law, and we need to make it clear and unambiguous so that no Supreme Court leave nothing for interpretation.
I have not heard that, but listen, the president started this whole race to the bottom, so to speak, when he called the governor of Texas and said, I need five more Republican seats.
Who does that?
He did.
And then, you know, we moved into action.
I think, you know, Democrats have been, you know, quite frankly, we've been you know, we've been we've we've been the adults in the room.
But at this stage in the ballgame, protecting people's voting rights, I think everything is off the table.
And I think Democrats are you going to see Democrats fighting back like you've never seen before?
Because this president is just outrageous.
