That is not a priority in our budget right now.
Maybe you can come back and ask me for that around Christmas or your birthday.
Like, that's what I mean to say, but in my haste, in my rush to just kind of move through the conversation...
I've said something that's very inaccurate and doing so can then cause the child to have a poor view of where we are as a family.
They might think, oh, we don't have money.
There's all these ways that it could be interpreted incorrectly.
So one of the things I try to...
encourage parents to do is be very intentional when we speak about money.
So one, be willing to have conversations about money because that's the other part of it.
And we touched on it a moment ago when we talked about if you're not feeling comfortable with money, you might also feel a little hesitant to talk about money.
I know we have a legacy of being afraid to talk about money or being hesitant to talk about money in general.
But we need to engage with our kids in an intentional way.
So one, we need to first say, yes, we will have this conversation.
You might not be able to have it in the grocery store.
I'll fully admit that in that moment, it might already be too late because the meltdown is coming.
But if we...
fully acknowledge that our kids are curious and they want to know more about these things then we could take advantage of that curiosity and talk to them with intentional language and they will start to learn but we first have to take on the the desire to teach right so they're going to come at us with curiosity because that's what they do that's where they are
But we then need to match that curiosity with a willingness to engage.
And if we do that, then there's some potential for learning.
But we have to, you know, do that first.
