So if your budget allows, I really do encourage parents to give their child an allowance.
And this one can get controversial.
And I, you know, I'll wade in with my two cents.
And again, every parent could do it their own way.
I don't like tying allowances to chores.
I see an allowance as a means to practice using money.
So if you give your child an allowance, this is a chance for them to practice spending.
It gives them a chance to practice saving.
It gives them a chance to practice transacting.
There's all the donating.
There's all these moments that they will now have access to practice with.
Some folks talk about, you know, there's no free money in life and all that.
And I get that and I respect that.
And if you feel like you need to tie it to chores, go ahead.
But again, my objective with the allowance is to give your child an opportunity to practice, practice using money.
And I've often said, you know, if you're if it was, let's say, the piano lesson, you wouldn't say you need to clean up your room before you practice piano.
I see the same thing with an allowance.
An allowance is a chance to practice.
That said, I think if you can give your child access to money in some way, and I have alternatives to allowance, which I'll talk about in a moment if you allow me, if you can give your child access to money, then you can start working on how they can spend, how they can save, and how they can use money without the scarcity mindset, with the growth mindset.
Because now they're having a chance to practice, right?
