You give them the chance to make some mistakes.
I remember when my child was pretty young, one of the things I used to say, kind of, I think it was like a Lord of the Rings reference, you know, keep it private, keep it safe.
When you have money, you need to keep it private, keep it safe.
And he didn't.
He ended up, I think he was just holding it or something.
And he held it like a bill or something like that.
He eventually lost it.
He was super sad, cried, tears.
But it was a learning moment.
And it was a moment where he learned with a very small amount of money.
Now, imagine if that was hundreds of dollars.
Now, again, you're not going to be carrying hundreds of dollars around flippantly.
But again, it gave him a chance to learn how to manage, how to hold, how to secure money in a safe environment with a very low cost.
risk, low cost to his overall well-being.
So with regards to saving and spending, I'll use a friend of mine, David Delisle.
He is the author of The Golden Quest.
He's a wonderful guy.
His book talks about focusing on the awesome stuff.
So you want to spend, you want to save, you want to do all these things.
One way to do that and make sure that you're doing it in a way that's intentional, again, I'm using that word, is to only focus on buying the awesome stuff.
