I do get it that, you know, like it's New Orleans, like you want it to be like New Orleans specific. But yeah, it's it's like it's kind of I see a both sides thing again. I'm sorry, Libra. It's like I get why he's upset. On the other hand, it's kind of like. Yeah, like Kendrick, this is his moment. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. He was the right pick. The selection doesn't necessarily have to depend on the host city. Like, you know, I think it's great when that does align. But, you know, like it's if you're in Tampa, like I forget who performed that when I think it was maybe The Weeknd, you know, who's representing Tampa. Yeah. So...
No. No. I was like, what the hell?
Right. The night time.
Okay, let's be honest about that. Miami, maybe. Yeah. Because, yeah, Tampa doesn't jive. So I didn't really, yeah, it made sense to me that Kendrick would. I also didn't know it was in New Orleans, like, at first. I don't know. The whole city is kind of, like, a nice factor, but I don't know how much that plays into, like, how they choose and act, so...
Yeah, there is. I mean, I feel that way about just like the halftime show in general. It's a huge platform. It's also if you're really kind of gung ho about like anti-NFL, anti-football or just kind of, you know, like the Colin Kaepernick crowd crew, like you wouldn't perform in the first place. So I do think we would probably put Kendrick in that bucket.
But he's kind of been towing this line between being that kind of Messiah type person and then being like a commercial artist. And probably feeling like the realistic part of that is like, all right, well, I want this platform, this NFL platform. He wants to be recognized, like in his legacy to be recognized.
He could have said no, but he's doing it partly, I assume, to kind of like stamp his place as like, all right, I have done this big show. And like, this is like just another notch on my legacy belt, basically.
He can't do Not Like Us five times.
So I think Kendrick can have like a Beyonce level moment in terms of theatrics. And he's great at putting on a show. Like we know that he's great at telling a story through his show. And I think that's what I would be looking for. Just kind of like, what is the narrative he's kind of presenting here?
Because most of his performances, whether it's like an award show or just kind of his tours, like he has some sort of meaning behind it. Or if it's like, you know, tied to an album, there's definitely some aspect of a personal statement. So that's what I'll be looking for. Just kind of, all right, what story about yourself are you putting out? Are you making this more about Drake?
Are you trying to kind of like stomp on him like definitively? Or is it just kind of, no, I'm actually not going to talk about him at all. Like he's not going to do that. Maybe he doesn't do that song at all. And he's just like the bigger kind of, that's probably not going to happen. But like the bigger thing to do maybe would be to ignore it.
And just kind of for people to be expecting that and him not and do something else like subversive.
