He was a catcher through most of high school.
He was hurt his freshman year of college, missed the uh a pretty much a full year with COVID and um so still learning, still figuring it out.
Um I I think he's really good.
I think the ceiling could be pretty high, but uh still not a finished product by any means.
Yeah, it's been such a kind of weird situation all year.
Now it's it's coming to a head.
The Tigers are hoping he can pitch on the final weekend of the season.
They're having a two-day celebration to honor JV's career.
Uh JV himself is pretty intent on getting back out there.
I don't think anyone knows exactly what that looks like.
Is that gonna be like a six inning start or is that gonna be one inning or is that gonna be one batter?
Uh I think that's dependent.
Kind of on what he does between now and then.
His last throwing session was his most encouraging probably in a long time.
Sounds like he was up to 93 miles an hour, which he just had not been there uh previously.
So that was good.
Um, but can he hold the stuff and just, you know, how does he feel?
I think he's been pretty clear that the hamstring is not gonna get too.
100%.
It sounds like there is some risk in him him even um going out here and trying to push the envelope, like he could hurt this hamstring worse.
